Flag algebras

چکیده
Asymptotic extremal combinatorics deals with questions that in the language of model theory can be re-stated as follows. For finite models M, N of an universal theory without constants and function symbols (like graphs, digraphs or hypergraphs), let p(M, N) be the probability that a randomly chosen sub-model of N with |M | elements is isomorphic to M . Which asymptotic relations exist between the quantities p(M1, N), . . . , p(Mh, N), where M1, . . . , Mh are fixed “template” models and |N | grows to infinity? In this paper we develop a formal calculus that captures many standard arguments in the area, both previously known and apparently new. We give the first application of this formalism by presenting a new simple proof of a result by Fisher about the minimal possible density of triangles in a graph with given edge density. §

Symmetry in Turán Sums of Squares Polynomials from Flag Algebras
Turán problems in extremal combinatorics concern asymptotic bounds on the edge densities of graphs and hypergraphs that avoid specified subgraphs. The theory of flag algebras proposed by Razborov provides powerful semidefinite programming based methods to find sums of squares that establish edge density inequalities in Turán problems. Working with polynomial analogs of the flag algebra entities...
متن کاملFlag Algebras: An Interim Report
For the most part, this article is a survey of concrete results in extremal combinatorics obtained with the method of flag algebras. But our survey is also preceded, interleaved and concluded with a few general digressions about the method itself. Also, instead of giving a plain and unannotated list of results, we try to divide our account into several connected stories that often include histo...
متن کاملFrom Complete to Partial Flags in Geometric Extension Algebras
A geometric extension algebra is an extension algebra of a semi-simple perverse sheaf (allowing shifts), e.g. a push-forward of the constant sheaf under a projective map. Particular nice situations arise for collapsings of homogeneous vector bundle over homogeneous spaces. In this paper, we study the relationship between partial flag and complete flag cases. Our main result is that the locally ...
متن کاملExamples of quantum cluster algebras associated to partial flag varieties
We give several explicit examples of quantum cluster algebra structures, as introduced by Berenstein and Zelevinsky, on quantized coordinate rings of partial flag varieties and their associated unipotent radicals. These structures are shown to be quantizations of the cluster algebra structures found on the corresponding classical objects by Geiß, Leclerc and Schröer, whose work generalizes that...
متن کاملRazborov flag algebras as algebras of measurable functions
These are some brief notes on the translation from Razborov’s recently-developed notion of flag algebra ([9]) into the lexicon of functions and measures on certain abstract Cantor spaces (totally disconnected compact metric spaces). 1 The objects of interest Consider a universal first-order theory T with equality in a language L that contains only predicate symbols; assume T has infinite models...
متن کاملGeneralized W∞ Higher-Spin Algebras and Symbolic Calculus on Flag Manifolds
We study a new class of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras W∞(N+, N−) generalizing the standard W∞ algebra, viewed as a tensor operator algebra of SU(1, 1) in a grouptheoretic framework. Here we interpret W∞(N+, N−) either as an infinite continuation of the pseudo-unitary symmetry U(N+, N−), or as a “higher-U(N+, N−)-spin extension” of the diffeomorphism algebra diff(N+, N−) of the N = N++N− tor...
